This policy explains what The Couch Wire (“we”) collects when you visit couchwire.com, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect
- Log data. Your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the time of your visit — recorded automatically by our server, as on any website.
- Analytics. Aggregated data about which pages are read and for how long, via Google Analytics.
- What you send us. If you email us, we keep that email and your address so we can reply.
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not sell personal data.
Cookies and advertising
This site does not use an ad network and does not set advertising or tracking cookies.
The ads you see are sold directly to a small number of advertisers and are always labelled Sponsored. Some are products built by the team that publishes this site. When you click one, we count the click — which ad, which placement, which day, nothing about you — and send you to the advertiser with tracking parameters (utm_source=couchwire) so they know the visit came from us. What happens on their site is covered by their own privacy policy.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Analytics
Google Analytics sets cookies to measure how the site is used. You can prevent this with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the EU, EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Write to hello@couchwire.com and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to your national data protection authority — in France, the CNIL.
Your rights (CCPA / CPRA — California)
California residents may request to know what personal information is collected and for what purpose, request deletion, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — which, for this site, means opting out of personalised advertising as described above. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Retention
Server logs are kept for 12 months. Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your request.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
