The Couch Wire answers the questions people actually type into Google — the ones where the top result turns out to be a page that never tried the thing. We try it, hit the error, and write down what fixed it.
Subjects range from streaming and gadgets to the smart home, apps and subscriptions, AI tools, cars and the ordinary problems of running a household. What holds it together is not the topic — it is the method: one real question per article, concrete numbers, and an honest account of what does not work.
Who runs this
El Mahdi Merzag, based in France. I spent years on the hardware side of home entertainment — setting up boxes, working out why a TV drops its signal, moving a router two metres so the living room stops buffering, and diagnosing the electrical and network faults underneath. Today I build web applications and automation tools.
The Couch Wire came out of the same irritation, over and over, and not only about televisions: the answer I needed was buried three forum pages deep, written by someone who had clearly never tried it. So I write down what actually worked, including the part where it did not work the first time. Where a subject is outside what I have used myself, the article says so and shows its sources.
How articles get made here
Topics are chosen from what people are actually searching for and asking about — real autocomplete queries and real forum threads, not a keyword tool’s guesses.
Every article is drafted, then read and edited by a person before it publishes. Nothing goes live untouched. Prices, menu paths and device specifications are checked at the time of writing, and the publication date on each article tells you how fresh that check is.
We say what is wrong with the things we recommend. If an article has no criticism in it, it is not an article, it is an advertisement.
How we make money
Display advertising. When a link is sponsored, it is marked as sponsored, in the article, above the fold — see our editorial policy.
Who publishes this
